This 1967 Chevy is a roaring muscle car fresh out of Supernatural

This week’s dream car is an iconic star of the silver screen.

IF I HAD the money I’d buy…

I’d buy a big, bad, butch muscle car powered by a roaring V8. I’d buy a top-of-the-line luxury model made to look like a star of the small screen. I’d buy a 1967 Chevy Impala conversion, like the one used in the TV show Supernatural, of course!

Why a 1967 Chevy Impala?

Well, it’s complicated. This car is actually a 1967 Chevrolet Caprice. The Caprice started out as the luxury trim level of the Impala but became so popular it separated into its own line. The Caprice models had an emphasis on luxury over comfort, while the cheaper Impala models were considered to be more sporty. This particular Caprice has been modified to resemble the Impala.

Under the hood of this American mass of muscle is a Chevy small-block V8 engine, but there is nothing small about the roar this unit makes. It sounds menacing and sure, who doesn’t want to scare other roads users out of their way?

What’s special about this particular one?

As you can see, this Caprice has been made to look like the Impala that Sam and Dean Winchester drive in the hit TV show Supernatural. The car is the real star – Dean refers to it as ‘Baby’.

This particular model has lowered front suspension, which gives it a wicked stance, and brand new 15-inch Cragar chrome rims with deep dish on the rear. The interior is a golden tan colour and has a new headcloth and fairly new carpet.

The cabin features beautifully crafted round instruments and retro bench seat with full working electrics. Oh, and the boot is big enough to hold many weapons, demon hunting tools and fake IDs.

Powering this beast is a 5.7-litre petrol V8 GM 350 block, which has been bored .030 and produces 360hp. It is mated to a 1967 TH400 gearbox which drives power to the rear wheels.

And look at it, just look at it. It is a stunning machine and one that is sure to elicit admiring glances wherever you go.

What does it look like in action?

Turn into the Supernatural to see this baby move – or have a look at this retro 1967 TV commercial for the luxury Caprice model.

Who else drives one?

The Chevy Impala is an iconic object in American motor history. And it looks mighty cool on the big screen too! Apart from its starring role in Supernatural, it has also been the main car in Jeepers Creepers, Saturday Night Fever, Mississippi Burning and surf movie Blue Crush. Meanwhile the Caprice model has starred in Prison Break, Bewitched, Kojak and Hawaii Five-O.

It costs €29,350 (approx). What else could you get for the money?

For the same money, you could have this Lincoln Town Car limo. (That’s a lot of car for your buck.)

… or this McLouis Lagan motorhome.
