Poll: Do you agree with child-free zones on aeroplanes?

Is this the solution to the ever-present crying aeroplane baby?

LATE LAST YEAR, Indian budget airline IndiGo’s made the controversial decision to ban under-12s from the first eight rows of seats, and they were by no means the first airline to create adult-only areas.

Other airlines that have opted for this offering include low-cost airlines Scoot from Singapore and AirAsia from Malaysia who have also created kid-free zones, while Malaysia Airlines banned infants from first class areas in 2011.

In an interview with Condé Nast Traveller, aviation magnate Richard Branson explained that he’s trying to develop children-only areas on flights instead, which so far has been stalled by the Civil Aviation Authority:

I would love to introduce kids’ class. It would be a separate cabin for kids with nannies to look after them. [The Civil Aviation Authority] worry in an emergency kids would be running in one direction and their parents would be running in the other.

On Twitter, some saw these measures as being unfair to parents, while others reckoned they were just practical changes designed to make passengers more comfortable. So as families depart on their first summer holidays since child-free zones were introduced, do tell us:

Do you agree with child-free zones on aeroplanes?

Poll Results:

Yes, it seems like a good idea (530)
No, it's already hard enough to travel with kids (180)
I'm not sure (42)
