China: Two-year old boy rescued from 35-ft well

A toddler has survived after falling down a 35-ft dry well after rescue workers lowered a mobile phone to see his position.

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy has survived after falling down a 35-ft dry well in Yunnan Province, China.

The toddler was rescued after emergency services near Mengzi city were called to the scene after passersby heard the boy’s cries.

The rescue attempt got off to a worrying start when the boy kept slipping out of the harness, which had been designed for adults.

However, rescue workers then lowered an iPhone into the narrow space in order to better view the boy’s position and managed to loop the straps around him.

The two-year-old was brought to hospital but is not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.
