Christchurch hit by further significant aftershocks

THE NEW ZEALAND city of Christchurch has been hit by yet more aftershocks. The overnight shocks included one of magnitude 5.3, which was felt widely in the Canterbury region devastated by the quake of February 22, and the city has been warned to expect further ‘tremblers’ overnight. The latest seismic events are the worst to strike the area since a 6.3-magnitude aftershock last week.
