BLACK MARKET TOBACCO valued at €38,000 has been seized by gardaí in Dublin.

The seizure was made on Friday after gardaí stopped a car carrying two men on Western Way in the north inner city. During a search of the car, cannabis herb valued at €500 was found.

Two follow-up searches of properties in Dublin then uncovered 60,000 cigarettes and 800 packets of tobacco pouches with a combined value of €38,000.

The two men, aged 37 and 38, were taken to Store Street garda station where they were arrested.

Both were later released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
