British soldier accused of cutting fingers from dead militant as souvenirs

The British Ministry of Defence has begun investigating the allegations which centre on a soldier deployed to Afghanistan last year.

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into allegations that a British soldier serving in Afghanistan cut the fingers off of a dead Taliban militant to keep as souvenirs.

The BBC reports that the British Ministry of Defence is investigating the claims and will not comment on whether the soldier involved has been suspended.

The claims involve a soldier whose regiment is thought to have been deployed to Afghanistan from September to April 2010 and which was involved in training Afghan police for the security handover from coalition forces.
