Man dies in house fire on Clare Island

The 62-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene after the alarm was raised last night. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A MAN HAS died in a house fire on Clare Island off the coast of Mayo.

The man was alone in the house at Lecarrow when the fire broke out last night with gardaí alerted to the incident at around 10.30pm.

The 62-year-old man was declared dead on the scene and his body was removed to Mayo General Hospital.

Gardaí say they are not treating the fire as suspicious.
