Price Comparison: What can I buy in Co Laois for under €350,000

Take your pick from two four-beds in Mountrath or two four-beds in Portlaoise.

IN THE CURRENT property market, it’s tough to get a sense of what exactly your money is worth. But, we’re here to make things easier to grasp.

Each week, we handpick a number of homes within a similar budget in one location, to give you a snapshot of the property landscape at any given time.

This week, we’re looking at properties around Laois with an asking price of exactly €350,000 or under, from two four-beds in Mountrath to two four-beds in Portlaoise.

Four-bed, detached, Mountrath – €299,000

Deerpark is a bright and spacious four bed dormer that’s a generous 192 m² . The house sits on ¾ of an acre on the foothills of the Sliabh Bloom mountains and is just a short drive from Portlaoise as well as Ballyfin. For young families, national and secondary schools are all close by. 

Inside, the spaces include three large reception rooms, a kitchen with a dining space and a big utility room. One of the four bedrooms and a playroom completes the ground floor. The remaining bedrooms and a family bathroom sits upstairs. One of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom, also. Four-bed, detached, Mountrath – €350,000

Staying in the Mountrath area, this family home is 167 m² in size and is close to Camross village which is home to a playground, new GAA grounds as well as a working hub, a primary school and a creche. These amenities make it ideal for those with young families and work from home. One of the four bedrooms resides on the ground floor and could also be used as another living room, playroom or home office.

Four-bed, detached, Portlaoise – €350,000

284 Berryridge Avenue is a four-bed home in busy Portlaoise town. 149 m² inside, the rooms are spread over two storeys and comprise a bright hallway with wood floors that lead to the sitting room with its stone fireplace, stove and picture window. The versatile dining room sits to the back of the house and has French doors to the garden. It could easily be converted into an office or another bedroom. The kitchen also overlooks the garden and had a utility room and downstairs toilet off it. 

Each bedroom upstairs is big with the main enjoying an en suite bathroom that’s in great nick. The other bedrooms share the large family bathroom. No doubt the location will be attractive to young families and those who need to venture to the capital every so often. The Maryborough development is close to everything in Portlaoise town including schools and the train station.

Four-bed, detached, Portlaoise – €335,000

57 Lime Tree Avenue is another great option in Portlaoise town. This four-bed spans 147 m² and has the luxury of just being a few minutes walk away from everything. Hardwood floors run throughout the ground floor with the hallway leading to the main social spaces – an open plan kitchen and dining space along with the living area run the whole length of the house. A roomy utility room and guest WC finish off the ground floor.
