Price Comparison: What can I buy in Co Longford for under €400k?

From a four-bed bungalow in Abbeylara to a terraced three-bed in Longford Town.

IN THIS EVER-CHANGING and fluctuating property market, it can be hard to gauge what your money will get you at any given time. And now, with remote working set to continue, counties further from the capital are posing a great option for anyone who wants more space in a rural setting. 

This week, we’re in Co Longford to see what you can get for under €400k – from a four-bed bungalow in Abbeylara to a terraced three-bed in Longford Town, this is what’s on offer in the county of the slashers.

Four-bed, detached, Lisryan – €340,000

Spanning 201 m², No 2 Lios na Gaoithe is a roomy family home in a rural setting that’s a walk from the village shop and pub. With gardens to the front and back, there’s always something pretty to look out on. Inside comprises two sitting rooms, a large open plan kitchen and dining space with a handy utility room just off it. All of the bedrooms reside on the next floor, two of which have en suite bathrooms. The house has plenty of storage throughout as well as a stira staircase to the attic.

There’s a large detached garage to the side of the house along with plenty of parking. In terms of location, Mullingar town is a twenty minute drive away while the N4 Dublin/Sligo road is just over ten kilometres away making it a great option for those who hybrid work or work from home full-time.

Three-bed, terrace, Longford Town – €185,000

9 The Brickfield is a three bed home that’s 89 m² in size but packs a punch. Located in Abbeycartron, a popular family-friendly area, this is a house that’s in great nick and is ready to walk into. Four-bed, detached, Ennybegs – €350,000

Gratton Lodge, in the quaint village of Ennybegs, sits at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. Inside comprises a number of open plan spaces that are filled with natural light thanks to large windows.  Along with the family rom, living room, kitchen and utility room, two bedrooms, one of which is en suite sit on the ground floor. There is also a handy shower room close by.

Two double bedrooms that both have en suite bathrooms reside upstairs with the larger benefitting from a nice walk-in wardrobe. Enneybegs is just 6km from Longford town centre, while the village itself has a new national school, pub and a shop for a sense of rural community that isn’t too far removed from larger towns.

Walking distance from Abbeylara village and on an elevated site with great views of the countryside, this four-bed bungalow has a floor area of 156 m². Inside comprises a sitting room with garden views that leads to the open plan dining room and kitchen. There’s also a very useful utility room and the back garden is reached through double doors in the kitchen. Each of the bedrooms live on the same floor with the main room enjoying an en suite bathroom and direct access through patio doors to the garden also.

An ideal family home, the garden is spacious with plenty of flowers and shrubs as well as room for the kids to play. A playhouse sits in one corner while a garage can be accessed from the side of the house.  Granard town is a handy 4km away for everyday essentials.
