Take care: it's icy out there this morning

Met Éireann says that temperatures will reach as low as -2 degrees tonight.

THERE IS A severe frost in many areas of the country this morning, but it is expected to clear before temperatures reach below freezing again tonight.

According to Met Éireann, it will stay cold today with highest temperatures reaching between 4 and 8 degrees.

AA Roadwatch is advising motorists to take care, after gardaí reported ice on roads in Letterkenny, Monaghan and Carlow towns.

Low road temperatures are also being reported on the M7 at Mountrath, the M6 at West Ballinasloe and Milltown Pass, the M9 at Carlow, and the M11 Bray Bypass.

A hard frost will form tonight under clear skies and dense fog in some areas. Temperatures will range between 2 and -2 this evening.

Tomorrow is going to be colder again, with lowest temperatures set to reach -3.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, however, as temperatures are set to reach double figures again during next week.
