Woman in her 70s killed in serious crash involving a truck in Co Cork

The incident occured on the Main Street in Macroom.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died following a serious collision involving a truck in Co Cork this afternoon.

The incident occurred at 12.50 on the Main Street in Macroom, with the woman being pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have said that no other injuries have been reported.

While a technical examination has been completed at the scene, the road remains closed at this time and local diversions are currently in place.

Following the collision, Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward with information.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Main Street between 12:30pm and 1pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” said a spokesperson for the Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Macroom Garda Station on 026 20590, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
