Controlled explosion carried out on Downpatrick pipe bomb

A CONTROLLED explosion has been carried out on a pipe bomb discovered at the Drumnaconagher Road in Downpatrick, Co Down, yesterday afternoon. A number of homes in the area had been evacuated following the discovery of the suspicious object and traffic was diverted from the area. In a statement today, the PSNI thanked residents for their cooperation.
