Man hospitalised after assault involving 'six or seven men' in Cork

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

A MAN HAS been hospitalised in Cork after six or seven men entered his flat in the city and assaulted him in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street in the city are investigating the incident which happened on Magazine Road.

‘Six or seven’ males entered the flat and assaulted the occupant before leaving, Gardaí say. The men are believed to have been armed although not with firearms.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where it is believed his injuries are not life threatening.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination being carried out today.

No arrests have been made at this point and Gardaí are investigating.

They have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Anglesea Street station on 021 4522 000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
