Man dies when car he is driving collides with bus in Cork

The bus driver was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A MAN IN his 20s has died after the car he was driving collided with a bus in Co Cork.

The incident happened at 6.15pm yesterday evening on the Mallow to Killarney Road (N72), approximately 4km from Mallow.

The man was the only occupant in the car.

The male bus driver was taken to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The local coroner has been notified.

The stretch of road was closed to facilitate a garda forensic collision examination and local diversions were in place.

Investigating gardaí have appealed for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
