Firefighters bring Cork city centre blaze under control

Three units of the Cork City Fire Brigade responded to the incident.

THREE UNITS OF the Cork City Fire Brigade brought a fire in the centre of the city under control this afternoon.

Plumes of smoke were seen rising earlier today from the fire at Carey’s Lane, which was understood to be at local restaurant Aroi.

The thick smoke from the fire brought groups of people onto the streets to see what was happening.

The area in front of the restaurant remains blocked off this evening, as fire crews dampen down the area.
