Man in his 20s dies after swimming in Cork park

He was found face down in the water last night.

A MAN IN his 20s has been pronounced dead after being found in a river in Cork.

The man had been swimming in the River Lee at the Regional Park in Ballincollig on the southside of the city yesterday.

It is believed he got into difficulty and disappeared under the surface in the river around 7pm.

The alarm was raised and he was found face down some time later.

Emergency responders carried out CPR and the man was transferred to Cork University Hospital, where he later died.
