Man (20s) dead and another man hospitalised with serious injuries after crash near Mallow

The road will remain closed overnight.

A YOUNG MAN has died following a crash involving two cars in Co Cork this evening.

The driver of one car – a man aged in his 20s – was fatally injured in the fatal collision near Cecilstown, northwest of Mallow.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene after the collision occurred at approximately 5.10pm.

The driver of the second car, also aged in his 20s, has been taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as serious.

The road between Cecilstown and Ballycloughwill remain closed overnight and a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will be completed tomorrow.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
