Elderly man dies after his car crashes in Cork

The collision happened in the Ballinagoul area in Knockraha.

A MAN IN his early 80s has died after the car he was driving crashed in Co. Cork this afternoon.

The crash happened at about 2.30pm in the Ballinagoul area in Knockraha.

The elderly man was the sole occupant of the car he was driving and no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The man died at the scene of the crash and his body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place.

The road remains closed and local diversions are in place with gardaí in Glanmire appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
