Suspect device at Cork hotel declared a hoax

The hotel was evacuated last night.

AN ARMY BOMB disposal team has dealt with a suspect device found at a hotel in Cork.

The team was called to the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, Co Cork last night.

The Defence Forces described the device as a “crudely constructed hoax”.

An explosive ordnance disposal team was sent to the hotel on request from the gardaí.

The hotel was evacuated and a cordon put in place for public safety.

The team arrived at the scene at 10pm and examined the device.

Items of an evidential nature were handed over to gardaí and the scene was declared safe at 10.55pm.
