Black Friday (in case you didn’t know) takes place this Friday November 29. While it’s easy to be swayed by the countless offers and deals available in store and online on the day, there’s a lot to be said for planning your Black Friday purchases.
Stylist and fashion expert Courtney Smith agrees. “I know exactly what I’m going to get this Black Friday,” she says. “Stick to a list and don’t be swayed by discounts, because otherwise you’ll likely end up with things you don’t need or use.”

While a fridge or freezer might not spring to mind as a must-have Black Friday purchase, there are big savings to be made on large electrical appliances. “If like me, you are in the middle of renovations – or just need a new fridge or kitchen appliance – then you must check out the Currys Black Friday sale,” says Courtney.
“I have my eye on this Samsung American-style fridge freezer which has been reduced from €1,339.99 to €1,039.99.”
If you’re guilty of buying a coffee on the way to work every morning, a top-class coffee machine could be the solution to making a barista-style cup of Joe at home – with no disposable cups in sight.
“I love nothing more than a really really good cup of coffee, so I’ve been wanting to invest in a great coffee machine for a while,” says Courtney. “Harvey Norman has incredible deals on electronics and kitchenware – this DeLonghi Bean to Cup machine being one of them.”
Sick of wires getting tangled as you drag your hoover around the house? “The Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is a game-changer,” says Courtney. “I bought one last year and now you can get it in the Black Friday sale for €100 less.”
As one of Ireland’s top stylists, Courtney knows a thing or two about the value of a great wardrobe essential. “Last year Net-A-Porter offered 50% off hundreds of designer items across all sections of the site. As always, the company has been pretty tight-lipped on the run up to its Black Friday sale, but I’m predicting some good discounts,” she says.
“I recommend investing in key wardrobe staples. Think classic boots, a killer trench coat or great knits – something that will stand the test of time.”
If your phone is on its last legs, now could be the perfect time to find a replacement for a great price. “Littlewoods.ie has a great deal on this Samsung Galaxy S10, with a saving of €235,” says Courtney.
