NEW FIGURES RELEASED by the Revenue Commissioners show that the office was awarded €145m in court judgments over unpaid taxes in the past two years.
In the first quarter of 2011, the Commissioners have been involved in 437 commercial and consumer court judgments, yielding €20.2m.
The data was compiled by Vision-net.ie. The company’s managing director Christine Cullen said that the figures show that the “Revenue is becoming far less lenient on default payers”. Cullen also said that settlement figures are increasing in quantity and amount, suggesting that creditors have become far less tolerant of withheld payments.
Vision-net.ie said its figures included both registered and non-registered judgments up to the end of October 2010, until the Court Service decided to prevent unregistered judgments being identified. From then on, only registered judgments were included in the Revenue’s data.
