Young man dies in Louth road crash

The 21-year-old was the sole occupant of the car when it crashed into a tree this morning.

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has died in a road crash in Louth this morning.

Gardaí say they are investigating a single car collision that occurred on the R173 at Toprath in Carlingford at about 8.45am.

The deceased was the sole occupant of the car. He was fatally injured when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The stretch of road is currently closed pending forensic examinations. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388 400.
