Woman, 27, dies in Cork crash

The single-vehicle collision occurred in Donoughmore at 1am.

A 27-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a road crash in Cork in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí in Macroom are investigating a single-vehicle collision which occurred in the village of Donoughmore at about 1am.

The victim was taken to Cork University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The other occupant of the car – a 29-year-old male – suffered injuries but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

The scene is currently closed to facilitate an examination by forensic investigators.

An appeal for witnesses has been issued and anyone with information is asked to contact the local station on 026 20590 or the confidential line on 1800 666 111.

Sixteen people have died on Irish roads so far in January 2013.
