Woman killed in second fatal Louth crash in space of 24 hours

A woman died in a crash in Castlebellingham this morning, while last evening a 39-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a tractor.

A WOMAN IN her 20s has died following a crash in Castlebellingham in Louth.

It happened at around 2am this morning. The woman was the only occupant of the car, according to gardaí.

The main street in the town remains closed as a result of the incident, according to AA Roadwatch, and diversions are in place.

Forensic tests will be carried out at the scene later.

Separately, a 39-year-old man has died last evening, after a crash between his motorcycle and a tractor just outside Drogheda.

The crash happened at 5.40pm at Tullyard on the the Ballymakenny Road, about 4km outside the town.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
