Witness appeal after detective on duty suffers serious assualt

He was attacked while responding to an incident at Ravensdale Park in Crumlin on Tuesday night.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED an appeal for information after a detective was attacked on duty in Dublin earlier this week.

It happened at Ravensdale Park in Crumlin at around 8pm on Tuesday. He suffered a serious assault “when investigating an incident,” gardaí say.

He was brought to St James Hospital for treatment to injuries described as ‘non life-threatening’ and as since been released.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to speak to “anybody who was in Ravensdale Park or the surrounding areas between 7.30pm and 9.15pm” on Tuesday “or anybody who may have information”.

In particular, they’re looking to speak to a number of potential witnesses — including “a woman who was pushing a pram with a child in it in the park around the time of this incident”.

They’re also looking to speak to two men “described as wearing suits and coming from work, in the area at the time of the incident”.

According to the appeal:

One of these men exited Ravensdale Park at the entrance beside the KCR builder providers at around 7.45pm.

The other entered Ravendale Park through the Kimmage Road West entrance and walked down the walkway through the park sometime between between 7.50pm and 8.30pm.

Witnesses are being asked to contact Crumlin Garda Station on 01 6666200, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
