No plans for Culture Night yet? Here's what's happening in the EAST

It’s Culture Night tomorrow – and here’s our guide to what’s happening in the east of the country.

CULTURE NIGHT IS happening tomorrow, with venues across the country throwing open their doors for hundreds of free events, tours, talks and performances.

There’s another bumper programme organised this year and hundreds and thousands are expected to attend and partake – and with just two days to go we’re here to help you decide what to do.

This evening we’re looking at events taking place in the east of the country, while we’ve already covered what’s happening in the west and in Dublin.

Kildare

  • Nick Cave – 20.000 Days on Earth - drama and reality combine in a fictional 24 hours in the life of the enigmatic Australian musician. Film screened at 8pm, the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge.
  • The Bog of Allen Nature Centre, Rathangan, will be hosting a traditional Irish baking session incorporating their traditional kitchen – experience baking bread over an open fire as past generations did, and then sample some of what you’ve made. From 5pm.
  • The Kildare National Playday, at Kildare County Council head office in Naas, will include a host of activities from craft workshops to bouncy castles and a reptile village. From 12pm.

Westmeath

  • Athlone drug awareness poster exhibition takes place all day at St Vincent de Pauls, O’Connell Street.
  • A walking tour of the art of All Saints Church, Mullingar will start from 6.30pm.

bunting

  • For the wedding-planners out there, a bunting workshop is being held at the Heart of Ireland Festival, Mullingar from 5pm.
  • Flannery’s Bar, Athlone plays host to the Farside Festival Club Sounds, from 11pm.
