No plans for Culture Night? Here is what's happening in the SOUTH

It’s Culture Night tomorrow and there’s plenty of events to choose from.

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE are expected to take part in events across the country as part of Culture Night tomorrow.

We’ve already turned our attention to the west, east and Dublin.

If you’ll be in the south tomorrow, here’s our pick of what’s happening.

This list is not exhaustive and a full guide of events is available on the Culture Night website.

Cork

  • A showcase of work from local artists will be on display at the 2020 Art Gallery from 11am-8pm as part of Me Daza.
  • If you’re travelling through the Cork Bus Station on Friday evening you’re in for a treat as the Cork Uileann Pipers Club (4.45pm to 6.45pm) and the Dust Busters Light Orchestra (7pm-8.30pm) will both be playing.
  • Milk of Israel, a film about super kosher milk production in North Cork Co-operative Creameries for Yavney Food Industries in Israel, will be screened at Trades Union Hall, Strand St, Kanturk from 6-9pm.
  • The African Irish Gospel Choir will be performing outside St Francis Church from 7-9pm.
  • City Hall will be busy tomorrow with children-friendly musical events planned for earlier in the day before the Cork Concert Orchestra takes to the stage at 10pm.
  • UCC is also planning several events.

Kerry

Kilkenny

  • To celebrate Culture Night, Kilkenny Castle will be open free of charge from 5.30-8.45pm.
  • Rory Conway, Butler Gallery’s resident Cartoon Saloon animator, will share behind-the-scenes secrets about the animation process from 7-9pm.

Limerick

hunt-culture-bites The Hunt Museum

  • People can take part in themed tours and workshops at the Hunt Museum throughout the day.
  • You can try your hand at ceramics, smithing, felting or knitting at Crafting Culture at the Limerick Craft Hub from 5.30pm-9pm.
  • An event looking at the amazing artists behind the Book of Kells will take place at Limerick School of Art and Design, Clare Street Campus, LIT from 7-8pm.

Tipperary

  • Art Hive – a large collaborative work consisting of an installation combining multi-media, ceramics, felting, textiles and painting – will be on display at the Showgrounds Shopping Centre, Clonmel from 3-8pm.
  • Ceol na Nóg will perform at various location around Cahir.

Waterford

  • A beach art event will be taking place on Kilmurrin Cove, between Boatstrand and Bunmahon, from 5-6.30pm.
  • A new display of projects including 3D printing, a floppy drive orchestra, digital art and pinhole photography will be open from 5-11pm at the South East Makerspace.

Wexford

  • The Gorey School of Art will display a solo photography and video installation exhibition by Eileen Coll -‘Bones’ – from 7-10pm.
  • Stagefright – an all-female a cappella group – will perform at the St Iberius Church at 10pm.
