What to see in THE MIDLANDS on Culture Night

It’s Culture Night on Friday – and here’s our guide to what’s happening around the country.

TONIGHT WILL SEE hundreds of thousands of us take to the streets of our cities and towns for Culture Night – and we’re here to help you decide what to go to.

We’ve already covered Dublin city, Cork City and County, and most of the counties along the West coast. Today it’s the turn of the Midlands.

Over the next few days we’ll be looking at some other parts of the country.

Offaly

  • Watch a fascinating contemporary dance performance by Katja Heitmann at 2pm.
  • Listen to a discussion on the art of short story writing at Tin Jug Studio at 7.30pm.
  • A taster of short films will be shown at the Edit Shed in Birr from 7pm (booking required)
  • Watch artist Paola Catizone create drawings through interpretative dance (7pm).
  • Want some laughs? Head to see John Colleary of the Savage Eye at 9pm.
  • Venture into Charleville Castle for a night of trad (8pm).
  • Children aged between 7 and 10 will love the talk at 4pm at Birr Library by author Dolores Keaveney. (Booking advisable)
  • If the weather is good, Music Generation choir will perform at Emmet Square (or Birr Theatre & Arts Centre if it’s wet) at 3pm.
