Cyclist and motorist killed in separate road collisions in Dublin and Roscommon

A male cyclist died in Dublin and a woman in her 90s died in Roscommon.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE died following road collisions in both Dublin and Roscommon.

A woman in her 90s was found at 12.45pm in a car crashed in a deep ditch on the side of the road around three kilometres from Castleplunket in Roscommon.

There was no other vehicle involved in the crash.

She had been reported missing to gardaí yesterday when she failed to return home from an appointment.

Her body has been removed to University College Hospital Galway. A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The road at the scene is closed to facilitate an examination of the area by garda forensic collision investigators.

Dublin crash

Meanwhile, a cyclist has died following a collision with a truck in Dublin this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on White Church Road in Rathfarnham.

The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His age remains unknown.

The driver of the truck was unharmed.

The cyclist’s body remains at the scene which has been sealed off to facilitate the garda forensic investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Rathfarham Garda Station on 01 666 500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
