NEW YORK DEPARTMENT store Bloomingdale’s has apologised for a page in its Christmas catalogue which people felt promoted date rape.

The ad features a man standing behind a woman with the text:

Spike your friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking.

It provoked outrage on Twitter:

Following the backlash, the company apologised :

Many feel that the apology is not enough and asked how the ad was printed in the first place.
