Man who dodged UK court over 'indecent images' downloads may be in Dublin

53-year-old David Swift is believed to have connections to the Swords area of north Dublin.

POLICE IN THE UK have issued an appeal for information in connection with a man who failed to appear in court late last year.

He was due to appear in court in Birmingham in connection with downloading indecent images.

53-year-old David Swift of  Phillip Sidney Road, Birmingham is believed to have fled the country after he failed to answer charges at Birmingham Crown Court in December.

“Officers alerted all police forces following Swift’s disappearance and in March they issued a public appeal for information,” an update on the West Midlands Police website said.

“Since he failed to appear, officers have been searching for Swift and now believe that he may be in the Dublin area.”

Detective Constable Lindsey Seeley, from the force’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said Swift had connections to the Swords area.

“However, we cannot be certain that he is in Ireland and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact their local police as soon as possible,” Seeley said.

Swift, who was born in Stirling Scotland, is described as being:

  • White
  • Around 5ft 9ins tall
  • And has a Scottish accent

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Swift is being urged to contact West Midlands Police or Crimestoppers.
