Delivery driver arrested at Mountjoy Prison after phones, sims, tablets and steroids found in van

A chief officer became suspicious and a search of the van was carried out.

A DELIVERY VAN driver was arrested after phones, sims, tablets and steroids were found in a vehicle.

The delivery van entered Mountjoy Prison this morning and proceeded to the kitchen loading bay area.

The Irish Prison Service said a chief officer became suspicious and the Operational Support Group (OSG) were called and conducted a search of the van.

They retrieved a package containing two smart phones, four mobile phones, eight sim cards, 4,000 tablets and quantity of steroids.

The gardaí were notified and the driver of the van was arrested and taken to the station for questioning.
