Woman remains seriously ill after Co Derry shooting

The young woman’s sister Lauren O’Neill, 18, was shot dead in the attack.

A YOUNG WOMAN who was shot and injured during an attack at a house in Bellaghy, Co Derry in which a second woman died remains seriously ill in hospital.

Police have named the deceased woman as Lauren O’Neill, 18, who was from the area.

The injured woman has been identified locally as O’Neill’s 21-year-old sister Brenda.

A 26-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday morning remains in police custody.

A man and woman, both aged 28, who were arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released.

The PSNI is appealing for information about the incident.
