IF PLENTY OF space is a non-negotiable for you, no doubt you have your Daft search filter set to ‘detached’.

This week, we’re looking at four large family homes across the country that offer privacy and plenty of room to swing many cats. Whether you’re hunting in Galway, Mayo or Tipp, here are some top picks.

Corrandulla, Co Galway – €650,000

This really spacious five-bedder has an impressive floor area of 325 m² and offers a great mix of town and country living as it sits over a kilometre from Corrandulla village. The house is 11 kilometres from Claregalway and 13km from Headford.

The house has a BER of B3 and stands on over three quarters of an acre with plenty of parking behind an electronic gate system. The rooms inside comprise two living rooms that lead to the bright sunroom. The main hall also links to the large kitchen and dining space with its double aspect, plenty of storage and built-in appliances. There is a utility room off this space also. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor along with a family bathroom. Four more double bedrooms sit upstairs along with another family bathroom. The attic has also been converted.

Ballina, Co Tipperary – €550,000
