Disruptions to Galway water supplies

County council appeals to residents to limit water use, and warns of reservoir shortages for certain areas outside the city.

GALWAY RESIDENTS ARE BEING advised by their county council to conserve water due to shortages at some reservoirs.

The areas supplied by Rosmuc, Carna, Kilkieran and Roundstone water supply schemes will have no water supply between 10pm and 8am the next morning until further notice.

The council also says that people living in Tonabrucky, Moycullen and parts of Furrymelia East and West in Barna who receive supplies from the Tonabrucky reservoir will experience intermittent water loss over the next few days.

Galway County Council said it would try to keep disruptions to night hours, and urges all water users not to leave taps running or dripping.

Vacant properties and outhouses should be checked for leaks and bursts, according to the council. Field connections should be shut off if animals are being kept indoors.
