Man charged with membership of an unlawful organisation

The man, in his 40s, was arrested in Limerick last Monday.

A MAN IN his 40s has been charged with membership of an unlawful organisation.

He appeared before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin earlier today.

He had been arrested last Monday by Gardaí in Limerick, and had been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

The arrest came as part of a garda investigation into the activities of dissidant republicans in the Limerick area.

He was remanded in custody to appear again before the Special Criminal Court at 10.30am on the 22 January.
