Here's why women are being #distractinglysexy today

It’s all over comments by a Nobel Prize winner.

FEMALE SCIENTISTS HAVE taken over Twitter for the past 24 hours – and their cause has been a worthwhile one.

Earlier this week, Nobel prize winning scientist Tim Hunt was speaking at a conference when he spoke on the topic of women in labs:

Let me tell you about my trouble with girls … three things happen when they are in the lab … You fall in love with them, they fall in love with you and when you criticise them, they cry.

He resigned today because of the comments, but not before they had sparked outrage around the world.

So, female scientists everywhere have been uniting under the #distractinglysexy hashtag to show how truly ridiculous the comments were – and it’s wonderful:

Like these signs in the lab

“No falling in love. No crying.”

It’s just been one of those hashtags that sums up a whole issue  -with a good bit of comedy attached

And sarcastic apologies to the Nobel winner were everywhere

With throwbacks to old scientists who were also distractingly sexy, probably

Why yes, hairnets are very sexy in the lab

And it even spread to other disciplines as well

The sarcasm game was strong

So, yes, #distractinglysexy has really been the best response

WIN.
