CUSTOMERS AT A petrol station in the US state of Minnesota were treated to the sight of Labrador retriever appear to drive a truck into a tree.

Mankato police say the idling truck apparently was put into gear, then went through a car park, across the street and over a curb.
The Free Press of Mankato reports a passer-by discovered the dog sitting in the driver’s seat when he jumped into the truck to stop it.
David Stegora was at the store when he heard the truck smash into a tree and a parked car. He couldn’t see the driver, but saw the dog climb up near the driver’s side.
Police say the truck was taken off the road. The driver had left the unoccupied truck running in a nearby car park.

Dogs are unbelievably clever, you hear these stories of a dog shooting his owner by accident, like on a hunting trip… Oh he stepped on the trigger which was pointed at the owner’s vital organs. You’d wonder sometimes. It’s hard to know if a dog is laughing with you or laughing at you.
Unless this truck had an auto gearbox it is very difficult to see how a dog…even the brightest canine in the world, managed to depress the clutch pedal and select a gear at the same time. Indeed, even with an auto box he would need to depress the footbrake whilst shifting the selector in Drive. And do not drivers of trucks leave the parking brake on ?
I mentioned the dog as a male as a female dog would never be so stupid.
