Dolores O'Riordan's mum says her daughter didn't recognise her at garda station

The singer is now under the care of a psychiatric doctor after being arrested earlier in the week.

THE MOTHER OF Dolores O’Riordan has revealed that her daughter did not recognise her at Shannon Garda Station in the aftermath of the singer’s arrest this week.

In an exclusive interview with the Limerick Leader, Eileen O’Riordan confirmed that Dolores is separating from her husband after being married for 20 years. She said the singer ‘just lost it’ during the incident on the flight.

The 43-year-old Cranberries frontwoman was arrested as she disembarked an Aer Lingus flight from New York to Shannon on Monday morning.

A flight attendant was taken to hospital after she was allegedly assaulted on the flight while a male garda who was assaulted in the arrest did not need medical attention.

Eileen said that when she went to visit Dolores, “She was lying on the floor, curled up. She had her head covered and her face covered up. She was trying to protect herself. I gave her a hug. I tried to talk to her.

She didn’t realise I was there at all. I put Lourdes water on her… She didn’t know who I was, she was trying to cover herself from me.

Eileen said Dolores was in a “very vulnerable” state and is now currently under the care of a psychiatric doctor in Ireland.

She added in the interview that her daughter “had two glasses of wine with her dinner when she started off but she had no alcohol or drugs in her system”.

I believe there were people hassling her to sing and for photographs on the plane. She just lost it.

“Everyone is saying the media have blown it out of all proportion. There is a lot of anti-Limerick in it.”

Gardaí have said that investigations are ongoing and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
