Domino's Irish sales are topping 2013

E-commerce and mobile deliver a strong showing for pizza company.

DOMINO’S PIZZA HAS record a 3.4 per cent increase in sales in Ireland during the first quarter of this year, the company said today in its first trading statement of 2014.

The Irish figures were accompanied by strong results in the company’s UK outlets, which posted a 10.8 per cent gain compared to the first quarter of 2013.

Overall sales across the company’s outlets in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Germany added up to £188.5m (€227.6m), up from £164.1m (€198.1m) for the same period in 2013.

Domino’s, which is the largest pizza delivery company in the UK, said that the strong performance was driven by the popularity of its meal deals, as well as better weather compared in the same period last year.

Online and mobile see growth

The company said a total of 69.4 per cent of sales came through its e-commerce activities, up again from 61.9 per cent the previous year. Sales from all online platforms grew by 25 per cent to £103m (€124.4). Of this, 34 per cent came through mobile devices, up from 25.2 per cent in 2013

Acting chairman Stephen Hemsley welcomed the results and said that the group had nearly completed the process of finding a new chairman.
