Man arrested over armed robbery of security staff in Donaghmede

The incident happened as staff were transporting cash from a fast food outlet in Donaghmede Shopping Centre.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of security staff as they transferred cash from a fast food outlet in Donaghmede Shopping Centre in Dublin earlier today.

A lone gunman approached and threatened security staff as they transferred cash at around 9.30am this morning before he made off with an undisclosed amount in a silver coloured Volkswagen Scirocco.

There were no shots fired and no reported injuries, according to gardaí.

During follow-up searches investigating officers later arrested a man in his 20s in the Kinsealy area in connection with the incident.

The man is currently being detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Coolock Garda station.
