THIS WEEK WE have two ideal family cars that are cheap to run, cheap to tax and economical, too.
First up, this 2016 SEAT Toledo (€18,950)
The SEAT Toledo is spacious, practical and cheap to run and tax. It is a good reliable sensible choice for a family car. The car we have this week is the SEAT Toledo 1.2 TSI 90hp version in SE trim.
This car is finished in Cappuccino Beige metallic paint and rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels. It comes in SE trim and external features include body coloured bumpers and mirrors, integrated front fog lights and daytime running lights.
The biggest draw for the interior is the legroom around the spacious back seats, meaning that kids will have a hard time reaching the backs of the front seats, no matter how hard they kick.
Furthermore, the boot is a generous 550 litres with the rear seats up and 1,490 litres with the rear seats down.
In terms of connectivity, the car offers 12v, USB, an AUX input socket and Bluetooth. There are electric front windows, electronic heated exterior mirrors, interior ambient lighting and a leather trimmed multi-function steering wheel.

Next, this 2016 Renault Fluence Limited (€18,765)
The Renault Fluence is a very popular family saloon that offers a comfortable ride, cheap tax and running costs and a lot of equipment for your money.
The car we have this week is the Renault Fluence 1.5 dCi 95hp version in Limited trim.
Exterior features include chrome detailing, body coloured bumpers and mirrors, and 16-inch Kaleido alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin is finished in Limited trim dark cloth upholstery and boasts an electric tilt and slide sunroof and leather steering wheel. There are all the sockets you could need: 12v, USB, and AUX input socket as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
And there is dual zone climate control, satnav, front and rear arm rests, a trip computer and electric front and rear windows.
Safety equipment includes ISOFIX anchor points, multiple air bags, reversing sensors, automatic headlights, ABS, Emergency Brake Assist, ESP Dynamic Driving Control, cruise control and speed limiter.
It is powered by a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission driving power to the front wheels. It produces 95hp and goes from 0 to 100km/h in 13.0 seconds and onto a top speed of 175km/h. The official combined fuel economy figure is 4.6 litres/100km.
It falls into tax band A3, which means it is €190 a year to tax. The Fluence has just 10km on the clock and a price tag of €18,765.
