Donegal businessman's family threatened at gunpoint during robbery

Three men broke into the home of a Donegal businessman this morning and threatened his wife and three children at gunpoint before making off with almost €15,000.

GARDAÍ AND THE PSNI are seeking three men following an incident in Co Donegal earlier today, during which the house of a businessman was broken into, his wife and children threatened at gunpoint, and almost €15,000 stolen.

The businessman, who runs a business in Derry, was not in the house at the time. No shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident, RTÉ reports.

The burglary took place in Kinnego near Buncrana, Co Donegal at around 9am this morning. Three men forced their way into the house, threatened the family and made off with almost €15,000 in the family car – a dark blue Audi A6 registration number 09 DL 2621.

The gang soon abandoned the car in Derry, hijacked a breadvan, and then hijacked another car before making off.

A fourth man in his 30s was arrested and is being questioned by gardaí at Buncrana Garda Station. He had been in a Silver Nissan Almera - registered CZJ 2195 -nearby the family’s home.
