Man has part of ear bitten off as 58 people arrested during Donegal rally weekend

The arrests were made as part of a four-day operation.

NEARLY 60 PEOPLE were arrested over a four-day Garda operation in Donegal.

The arrests were made as the Donegal International Rally motoring event was held over the weekend.

One man had part of his ear bitten off among the incidents of criminal damage, dangerous driving and public order offences.

Gardaí said today that there were 58 arrests, including:

  • 3 drugs offences
  • 19 public order offences
  • 22 counts of dangerous driving
  • 1 hit and run
  • 9 incidents of drunk driving
  • 4 counts of criminal damage

The man who had part of his ear bitten off was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital on Saturday. It is not clear whether that attack was connected to the rally.

Thousands had attended the event.
