BALLYRANE HOUSE IS truly in a world of its own, hidden away on a seven-acre estate in Killinick, Co Wexford.
Dating back to the 1700s, the property has been passed down through a series of Wexford families, each of whom made their own marks. It even remained with one family – the Letts – for 121 years before being sold on again.
The current owners bought the house in 1993, and have since upgraded the place to the highest standard, while still keeping a wealth of period features intact.
Ballyrane House features architraves, corniced ceilings and sash windows with working shutters, as well as period decoration throughout.
An enormous kitchen is the heart of the home, with plenty of space for food preparation and enjoyment. It’s heated by an AGA stove and benefits from large windows.
Thekitchen island provides extra storage, and the period-style decoration gives the room a rustic charm. There’s also a large utility room just off the kitchen.
Elsewhere, you’ll find a stunning dining room and large reception rooms. A real gem, however, is the wooden study, which is lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and makes an incredible space to work, study or just relax in.
Upstairs, there are five bedrooms, three of which are doubles; one of the smaller rooms is currently being used as a day room.
The master bedroom suite is stunning, with a large en-suite bathroom off and sizeable fitted wardrobes, as well as beautiful views of the grounds below.
The seven acres of land upon which Ballyrane House lies includes gardens, meticulously kept and colourful, but also woodland and paddocks.
The property also has several outbuildings, including stables, if you fancy a horse to keep you company while you survey your kingdom here.
Ballyrane House is a 15-minute drive from Wexford town, through Killinick village has a number of basic amenities. Dublin city is two hours away by car, as is Dublin Airport.
