A MAN CAUGHT driving with no trailer registration plate and three ‘defective’ tyres gave gardaí a novel excuse when he was pulled over in Galway.

He told them: “I thought I’d be okay going a short journey.”

Gardaí said the driver also had no rear lights or breakaway cable.
