Drug trafficking suspect to appear in court

One of two women arrested in a €1 million cocaine raid at Dublin Airport will appear in court today on drug trafficking charges.

A WOMAN IN her 20s is due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning after being charged in connection with a drugs seizure at Dublin Airport on Thursday.

The 22-year-old South American woman and her 44-year-old mother were both arrested as part of an intelligence-led garda operation into cocaine trafficking, which employs couriers to bring illegal substances from South America into Ireland. Both females were arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station on Thursday where they were detained under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

The mother remains in custody in Finglas.

A total of 14 kgs of cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1million, was seized in the raid.
