Two men arrested after Donegal drug seizure

Over €100,000 worth of a substance called methylone, which is similar to MDMA, was seized from the house in Bundoran.

OVER €100,000 WORTH of an MDMA-like designer drug was seized from a house in Bundoran today, with two men being arrested.

As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale of drugs in the Ballyshannon area of Co Donegal local gardaí accompanied by members of Revenue Customs Services and Garda Regional Support Unit, seized a quantity of methylone at a house in Bundoran, Co Donegal.

Methylone is similar to MDMA and was sold in the Netherlands for a time under the name Explosion, before it was made illegal.

The seizure was made at approximately 9.15am this morning and has an estimated street value of €115,000.

A vehicle and mobile phones were also recovered during the operation.

Two men, both in their early 50s, were arrested and are currently being detained at Ballyshannon Garda Station under section two of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí say that enquiries are ongoing.
