Man arrested after drugs and ammo seized in Drogheda

In Longford, two men were arrested in connection with a cannabis seizure.

A MAN IN his early 40s has been arrested after a seizure of drugs in County Louth.

Gardaí from the Divisional Drug Unit at Drogheda, recovered cocaine with a street value of around €50,000 as well small quantity of 9mm ammunition during a search of a car at Donore Road, yesterday evening.

A man in his early 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda Station.

Elsewhere, two men in their 20s were arrested after €45,000 worth of cannabis herb and plants were seized in Abbeyshrule, Co Longford.

Both men were later released and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
