Six people to be charged with drugs offences

The charges relate to a large garda operation in the south east earlier this week.

FIVE MEN AND one woman are to appear at a Wexford court this morning to be charged with a variety of drugs offences.

The six suspects were arrested on Monday on suspicion of cultivating, distributing and supplying controlled substances in the south east region.

A seventh person detained following a number of planned searches across Wexford was released without charge.

The extensive operation – dubbed Serpentine – saw more than €78,000 worth of cannabis and €59,000 worth of speed seized from six properties.

A quantity of cocaine was also discovered in one of the searches with items relating to drug cultivation found in several of the houses.

Those detained range in age from their mid 20s to early 60s.
